How The Process Works
Over the course of their career, many musicians will record their songs by themselves or in a small recording studio and leave hoping the results meet their expectations. However, this is typically not the case. Many musicians pour their hard earned money back into their equipment, resulting in good instruments, mixing boards, and microphones. Often, being well rehearsed and capturing a good performance leads to good tracks, but not necessarily resulting in a great final mix.
Writing, recording, and producing is usually the most fulfilling and fun part of releasing new music, which is why Glaser Music Company specializes in the behind-the-scenes tedious parts of music production, such as mixing, time synchronization, re-amping, tuning, and volume/effects automation.
These are the processes which take a mix from 50% to 90%. Mastering is then applied finishing out the mix by increasing the loudness to an industry standard and applying the finishing touches to make a mix wide, powerful, clear, and competitive.
When e-mailing individual audio tracks, please have them mixed down to .wav format. .wav is a lossless file format and will result in a better sounding mix.
During email correspondence, please specify the beats per minute that the track was recorded at, and all related bar locations if there are time/tempo/key changes.
When tracking, make sure that you have set the input pre-amp (gain) levels to record at an optimal volume. Every instrument/mic input will have different signal levels that should be adjusted. Make sure the incoming signal is loud, clear, and not clipping.

This is a perfect signal level.
This is on the verge of clipping.

This signal is too hot and is clipping. It will distort.
This is clipping but being run through a compressor/limiter.

Perfect

Too Loud!
Also, file management is crucial. When saving a mixdown, label the file with all of the crucial information. More detail is always best.
Example:
Poor
Good
newestsong_drums_sm57finalmixdown_version2.6.wav
Mastadon_Teardrinker_126bpm_Brann_SnareMicTop.wav
Please provide 1-3 reference tracks to aid in achieving the overall sound you are after. The more specific, the better!
Example: If you want your song to sound similar to Metallica (their career is extensive), tell me the exact song you are using as a comparison.
When sending any tracks or stems for mixing or mastering, make sure all of the effects on the Master Bus, (such as limiters) have been disabled before mixdown.
Services and Pricing

1
Mixing
Single Song
$125
The mixing process involves compiling all of the individual tracks or stems you provide into a DAW project, where the files will be grouped into appropriate mix busses. The project will be tempo matched to what you recorded at. Each individual track will receive panning, EQ, automation, and effects (including re-amping, midi instrumentation, drum samples, etc.), sometimes even tuning and tempo-realignment. Mix busses will then have their own effects and automation applied. Finally, all volumes will be adjusted before summing everything down (either digitally or through analog processes) into a polished, dynamic, wide and energetic stereo .wav file ready for mastering.
2
Mixing
Ep or Album
*Minimum of 4+ songs
$100 per song
The same process as mixing a single, except also focusing on making each song stand out while also accompanying each other to result in a cohesive concept. Mixing an EP or album all at once typically results in the songs having a similar feel and volume, making for a comfortable and cohesive listening experience when played in a particular order. Also, due to many of the same sounds/effects being used across multiple songs, it can save time during the mix process, resulting in a discounted rate if purchasing 4 or more songs to be mixed simultaneously.
3
Mastering
$30 for Single
$100 for EP
$200 for Album
*Minimum of 4+ songs
What I can provide you:
-
Professionally mastered music (singles, EPs or albums) with a taste and all necessary techniques (EQ, compression, saturation, clipping, limiting, widening, etc.)
-
Files delivered in .wav and .mp3
-
Ready-to-go single, EP or LP.
Please provide a stereo .wav file with headroom (from -6 to -3 DB) for best results.
*You should be happy with the mixed version of your song. Mastering is not a "magic wand" and will not do wonders for poor production during the early stages (tracking/mixing).
*All final mixes and mastered files will be delivered first as .mp3 files over e-mail so that the client can diagnose if any revisions are necessary. The number of revisions can/will be negotiated with a mutual understanding of a level of satisfaction and completeness.
Upon payment, finalized .wav files will be delivered.
